7 Reasons Why Some Pharmacy Owners Enjoy a More Luxurious Lifestyle, While Working 20 Hours or Less

What they practice is priceless. You can learn to do it, too. It’s about building your business bigger and making it more profitable, in spite of the turbulent marketplace.

What they know, they didn’t teach you in pharmacy school, and it is costing you hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.

Fortunately, you can overcome that right now.

So, how do you learn all about this, and more—quickly? And with applications that directly affect your pharmacy? Think differently.  
 
Successful entrepreneurs think differently. When I get my clients to adopt this different kind of thinking and apply it to their pharmacy business, success swiftly follows. Yours can too.

Here are a few concepts you can start applying today, to change your course and get to where you want to go:

1.  Work Smarter Not Harder! You’re juggling more and spreading yourself too thin, while making less money. The solution: stop trying to do everything at the same time. It’s counterproductive. Do less, accomplish more. Use Pareto’s Law.   

2.  Manage Your Time
  • Set goals.
  • Set priorities.
  • Organize your time around physical activities during the course of each and every day
  • Use Pareto’s Law (the 80/20 rule) to prioritize your time. Apply major chunks of time to that 20% which will produce 80%        of the results.
  • The most valuable area to which you should be applying your time is to your number one responsibility: Business Building

3.  Marketing that Drives Your Pharmacy Business
  • In fact, it is the only element of your pharmacy that produces significant results. But it needs to be direct response marketing— marketing you can hold accountable for results and differentiates you from the competition-- not the conventional “get your name out there” type of marketing that you’re probably doing now. When you use the right kind of marketing, you’ll discover that marketing is truly the mother of all business skills. 

4.  Learn to Become Worth $250/hr or More
  • Stop doing $10/hr to $60/hr work that can be done by someone else.
  • Consider the value of your time: $250/hr. or more! If you want to be worth $250/hour, ($500,000 per year) to yourself and your family, then you need to do work each and every hour that produces $250 an hour. So why are you still doing the work of a $12/hr tech, an $18/hr bookkeeper— even a $60/hr pharmacist?

5. Think Differently
​     •  Think more in terms of the future. Create a definite Vision of your ideal business for the future.
  • Build an enduring organization— one that creates a LEGACY.
  • Have very specific goals and pursue vigorously.
  • Never take your eyes off those goals, and never compromise them.
  • Do not make excuses. Nevertheless, if plan A doesn’t work, already have plan B ready to take its place.
  • Understand that you are in the business of “marketing health solutions.”
  • Recognize there is a system for making money in your pharmacy business.

 6.  A few more lessons from The Pharmacy Sage
  • Get organized for success. Make certain you have a strong second-in-command. Make certain he/she handles the day-to-day operating details so that you are free to handle the business building strategies, tactics, as well as implementations.
  • Get into “cash sales” mode. Be certain to have an exceptional assortment of nutraceuticals that vitally affects the health of your patients and create a total marketing plan built around them, as well as compounds, and your expertise.
  • Train your staff regarding products. It’s essential they be able to inform and educate your patients. Be certain to have training available on CD/MP3, as well as in writing, so that both your visual and auditory staff members will obtain and retain this valuable information.

7.  Know What Your Patients—and Would-Be Patients-- Truly Value from You
